What era is pre-war?
Which war – the second world war I think right? we just bought a pre-war condo. I would love to decorate to fit the era it was built but having a hard time knowing what style that is. It has lots of nice architctual molding in the lving and dining rooms. The kitchen has a wonderful black and white tile floor (Not just linoleum). any advice? we have pottery barn couch and chair in sage green that we are keeping but otherwise I am open to suggestions. I like arts and crafts stuff but not so much of it- too geometric. art nouveau gets too psychadelic looking – I think I am leaning more towards older than pre-war styles- Victorian?
Please submit any ideas you have for any room…like what kind of rugs, coffee table, lighting etc…
You are correct – it’s WWII stuff….Why don’t you just devote one room to that era rather than the whole house. A good place to get ideas would be to rent some old movies – paying attention to the decoration. Mission furniture would work, as well as overstuffed couches and chairs.
